Follow the Star: An Invitation to Retreat

All roads to truth will one day lead to the stable.
— Rev. Kevin Flynn

What if you could travel with the magi, the Zorastrian priest scholars, who followed the elegant, bright star to Bethlehem?  If you could have been there to travel east by night bundled from the cold, lumping along on a camel’s back, what thoughts about the prophecy would have kept you going?  How long would it have taken?  What might it have been like to arrive and sense the mystery of swaddled Light held by new mother Mary, safeguarded by Joseph?

Like the magi, many of us left behind, at least temporarily, our (religious) “homeland” and journeyed beyond our own faith tradition where we came upon the intersection of yoga and Christ.  Many have experienced an epiphany (manifestation or clear awareness of God at work) and stayed to explore how yoga’s time-tested practices might continue to enhance or deepen the faith walk.  Rev. Kevin Flynn, who along with Renee Prymus will guide us in meditating on our own epiphanies, describes the experience:

The Wiseman set off on a journey to an unknown destination, going without certainty but trusting nevertheless in the cosmic order of the stars, the gift of the wise creator. They found the joy of all they had been seeking. They saw and believed the unsearchable mystery of Christ hidden in God until this moment.

Everything they had longed for had come true, like the best fairy stories, while their world was turned upside down because it was true and real. A baby with soft skin and a piercing cry. They had an epiphany. Everyone who reached the stable had one.

How has the manifestation of Christ in your own life left you forever changed?

How do we continue to answer God’s call when our old wine skin of faith may no longer fit?  How has yoga supported the new wine skin?

Our retreat will explore these questions.  Led by teachers in our network, you will be guided to re-member yourself, to reconnect to your own inner starlight and journey, through prayer, movement, short talks, meditation, song, journaling and optional time to share.

There is a bounty in a pause. Cleared space in time and place allows for both a cleansing of busyness, fears, life clutter, and a nourishment for the mind and heart to listen, to experience, to ponder the Light, to BE with the Holy One who is All.

Alight the heart for the journey ahead.

A star twinkles quietly yet when we stop and pause long enough it's twinkle seems brighter.  Listen, it will whisper stardust knowledge.  Where is it leading you?  Follow the Star. We hope you will join us.
