God in Your Body

This seven week series will contemplate how salvation came to us through the body of Christ, emphasizing the ever-present human longing for God and God’s longing for us. Each yoga class will explore a unique aspect of Christ-Centered spiritual foci to deepen our faith and cultivate a more meaningful Lenten season.

For this series, please bring a blanket and two blocks.

A pioneer at the intersection of faith and yoga, Barbara Carlin has been practicing since her college years, around the same time that she bought her first Bible.  As questions about the union of body and soul began to tug at her heart, she discovered yoga as an embodied spiritual practice with the capacity to open one to a deeper knowing. She began teaching others in 1980s, long before the fledgling Prayer of Heart & Body retreats started bringing together teachers who shared a similar background and understanding. Barbara has a dual Masters degree in Counseling Psychology and Christian Spiritual Formation. She is now RYT 200 through New Day Yoga with a special emphasis on yoga from a Christian perspective.

A Licensed Professional Counselor and Nationally Board Certified Counselor, Barbara is owner of Horizon Counseling & Consulting, LLC, located in Atlanta, GA. She takes satisfaction in working with individuals and groups and conducting workshops. She is often invited to speak on a number of topics related to mental health and personal well-being.
