THE POWER TO BE: TRAUMA-SENSITIVE PRACTICE AND THE CAPACITY TO BE FULLY ALIVE
I’m passionate about resilience work. I love to practice healing, growing, and stepping into power. I love teaching it, talking about it, sharing it. After training in mindfulness-based emotional resilience (EMBER) yoga, it’s now the way I move through the world. It is an ally, sustainer, and way-maker in working with trauma affected students - and - with every human being I encounter, including myself.
Creating Sacred Space
The second post in our Seva Series, this time highlighting the work of Joanne Spence: “When she teaches absolute beginners—students in hospital beds or residential centers—Joanne watches the divide between bodies and minds getting smaller. She witnesses bipolar and anorexic patients gain respect for their bodies; she helps public school students simply be the vulnerable kids they are under their hard exteriors; she invites adults to slow down and care for their achy backs and hearts.”
